Leaving Ibiza

We are planning to leave today. On our way to Sicily.

Morning has broken

Cat Stephens song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5sSEkZ86ts really epitomises this morning. I give you link so that you can get a feel of what it was like on deck first thing.

We are anchored in an idyllic Cala de Roij. After we got here yesterday we explored this side of the island with the dingy and then went out for dinner last night. A great fish dinner at a little beach at the head of the cove (Cala).

Coming up the scene was of tranquillity and the best way to share this was to shoot a quick video and share this.

Today we need to provision some fresh supplies. Our next leg starts tomorrow. We expect it to take 3 days to Sicily.

Ibiza in sight

We have Ibiza in sight, and we have a connection again.

We will be in anchorage within 1 hour. I will send a spot once we are anchored and that will show our position.

Last night was a little stormy. A lot of wind and right "on the nose". This meant we had to motor.

Saga IV behaved well and we are all looking forward to spending a day or 2 resting before we set out on the next leg to Sicily.

Leaving Cartegena

We spent the day at rest, but now at 8pm we are underway again. This will be a short shot of approx 16 hours.

Cartegena

02 August,

One of the highlights of the trip has been all the dolphins and birds we have seen.
The video was taken on my phone so the quality is not great but it really shows them playing around the bow of Saga IV .

We arrived at 08.00 this morning in the Spanish port of Cartagena. 7 nights at sea. The order of the day was fuel. Both tanks were pretty low so this was a priority.

This was quickly dealt with and we then moved around to the main yacht basin. We have only had to take on light provisions as we are still well stocked.

We are planning to leave at 6pm and will be heading for Sicily via Ibiza

The following picture is of the rock of Gibraltar. As I mentioned in a previous post we passed at night.

In the Med

After an eventful afternoon yesterday we are in the Mediterranean.

The approaches were extremely lumpy. The seas coming at us from all angles. It felt like we were driving down a bad dirt road in old ford pick up truck. We kept looking up as we headed south east towards the straights and there were the Atlas mountains of Morocco on starboard and the Spanish coast to port . It was really hazy and suddenly we were at Trafalgar and then into the straights.

It was dark by the time we got to Gib but the rock was impressive from the sea.

Right now the sea is dead calm. We are motor sailing at 8.5 knots heading east up the Spanish coast.
